Considered the most prolific and long-running Italian comic book series, the series was initially called Tex Gigante Nuova Serie, taking on its definitive name of Tex from issue 162. After the first issues printed in a slightly larger 17x24 format (nos. 1-23), the series settled on the classic format known as the "Bonellian" 16x21 format from issue 24, assuming a monthly periodicity from 1964.
