The magazine cover looks innocent, in keeping with the Valentine's Day season. However, it contains a touch of originality, depicting Donald and Daisy Duck hugging under a large yellow moon with little hearts. ππ
Each issue of Mickey Mouse features a main story and a few side stories set in Duckburg and Mousetown. In this issue, the main story, "I Married a Witch," is about a man who marries a witch and has to deal with the consequences. π§ββοΈ
However, the author introduced a surprising element: Mickey's love affair with his long-time girlfriend, Minnie, right on Valentine's Day. Although the table portraying the two in bed was avoided, the scandal was still inevitable. π
The story became known as the "cursed story of Mickey Mouse" and sparked much discussion and controversy. Although it ultimately contained nothing truly shocking, it caused negative reactions in the United States, so much so that Disney withdrew all copies of the issue and destroyed the original plates. πΊπΈπ₯
This story remained paradoxical even by the standards of the 90s and is even more surprising today. The issue of Topolino containing this story has become rare over time and has high values ββamong collectors. ππ
