Reprints Every Collector Should Know!
Dylan Dog is one of those characters that has made the history of Italian comics, and for anyone who has ever immersed themselves in his horror adventures, the temptation to collect all his stories is irresistible. But what happens when the first editions become unobtainable? Enter the fascinating world of reprints! Today we talk about the three main reprints that have brought the stories of our nightmare investigator back to life, making them accessible to new generations of readers.
First Reprint (1990-2017) - from 1 to 330
The First Reprint of Dylan Dog began in 1990, and its purpose was clear: to make the first volumes of the series, now unobtainable, available to a new audience. The series began publishing in chronological order, re-proposing the stories from number 1 to 330. With a fortnightly frequency in the first year, then slowed to monthly, this reprint continued uninterrupted until January 2017 , concluding with number 330 .

Second Printing (1991-2006) - from 1 to 184
In July 1991, a year after the start of the First Reprint, the Second Reprint was born. This also retraces Dylan's adventures in chronological order, but with a more limited print run that has helped make it a real gem for collectors. After 184 issues, it ended in September 2006 , leaving behind a legacy of collector's editions. Many issues of the Second Reprint have in fact reached a surprising value, often higher than the first editions!

Granderistampa (2006): Three Stories in One Volume - from 1 to 78
To celebrate Dylan Dog's twentieth anniversary, in 2006 Sergio Bonelli Editore launched Dylan Dog Granderistampa . This series has a unique feature: each issue contains three original stories from the regular series, making reading even more exciting. Published every two months, Granderistampa reached issue number 78 before being suspended, making room for a new generation of issues and collectors.

Some Reprints Are Worth More Than the Originals!
Well yes, there are numbers of the First and Second Reprint that now have a higher value than the first edition. Thanks to the limited edition and the charm that only a collector can understand, these reprints have become real museum pieces for Dylan Dog fans.
Print runs of the first 3 issues of Dylan Dog:
The first three issues of the regular Dylan Dog series came out in 1986, with an increasing circulation thanks to the immediate success of the character: issue #1, Dawn of the Living Dead , had an initial print run of around 50,000 copies ; issue #2, Jack the Ripper , increased to 60,000 copies ; finally, issue #3, Nights of the Full Moon , reached around 80,000 copies .
With the First Reprint, started in 1990, demand was high and print runs were larger: for the first three issues, a print run of between 80,000 and 100,000 copies each is estimated.
The Second Reprint, begun in 1991, was more limited, with smaller print runs for the first issues, estimated at between 40,000 and 60,000 copies . This edition is now particularly prized by collectors for its rarity and increasing value, especially for the initial issues.
If you are a Dylan fan or a collector looking for rare pieces, reissues are an essential chapter to know and add to your collection!
