French Kiss : a tribute to the French comic strip

The 29th edition of Lucca Comics & Games (scheduled from October 29 to November 2, 2025) will transform the city into a riot of comics, games, and pop culture. This year's key word is "French Kiss" : a vibrant tribute to French comics (the famous bande dessinée). The 2025 poster, designed by French illustrator Rébecca Dautremer, is a true feast for the eyes: a werewolf, a warrior, a vampire countess, a witch, a monster, and even a Lukawa (an imaginary creature born from the intersection of Lucca and manga influences) seem suspended in a magical moment before exchanging an enchanted kiss. In this dreamlike setting, the kiss becomes a narrative engine capable of uniting different worlds, a symbol of passion that transcends all differences.

The homage to France continues with a rich program of exhibitions and events. Lucca's historic palaces will showcase masterpieces of French comics: original panels by geniuses such as Moebius, Jacques Tardi , and Claire Bretécher , to name a few. The evocative Palais de France (in the headquarters of the Banca del Monte Foundation) hosts a special exhibition dedicated to great French authors, while the nearby Palazzo Guinigi hosts a solo exhibition by Dautremer, featuring previews of his new graphic novel , Ruby Rose . There will also be meetings with prominent French guests—artists, writers, and even top editors—who will discuss the evolution of French comics in lectures and panels. Thanks also to the collaboration with the Institut Français and the French Embassy, ​​enthusiasts will be able to experience Lucca as a piece of Paris: between illustrated panels and the atmosphere of authentic film noir or French cartoon, the festival bridges Italian creativity and French charm.

Collectors' Paradise: Plush Toys, Funko Pops, and Sylvanian Families

In the San Francesco Pavilion , Lucca Comics & Games 2025 is setting up a true collector's paradise. It's impossible to resist the temptation to pet millions of colorful plush toys: from the super-soft Coccolotti by Giochi Preziosi to the timeless cuteness of Hello Kitty , not to mention the irresistible Squishmallows . Famous brands and cult characters—from Roblox to Netflix series—invade the stands with gadgets, dolls, and action figures. The Funko area is another unmissable event. With a completely revamped stand, Funko Pop invites visitors to an immersive experience: flamboyant displays, psychedelic light displays, and a unique atmosphere. Sylvanian Families is celebrating its 40th anniversary with a unique pavilion. Over thirty exclusive limited editions (perfect for enriching your collection) will be on display, including the new 2026 calendar, the only time of year it's available. Furthermore, playtime and themed surprises will make the visit a true immersion in nostalgia and creativity for little ones.

Netflix couldn't be left out either, aiming high this year with Stranger Things . An Upside Down -themed pavilion has been set up in the heart of the city, where the cast of the series will arrive live on Friday, October 31st. Among them will be Gaten Matarazzo, Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, and the Duffer brothers, ready to present the world premiere of the trailer for the fifth and final season. For Hawkins fans, it will be a dream come true: meet the actors, Q&A and laughs on stage, photos with the characters (and who knows, maybe a few supernatural thrills).
