This story has been criticized for its racial stereotypes and negative portrayal of the nomadic population, making it a rarity sought after by collectors. A copy can fetch 200 to 500 euros on eBay.

Trivia: Despite the controversy, this book remains one of the rarest pieces of Disney history, reflecting a time when themes and representations were treated very differently than they are today.
